About & Results

Adam did not grow up in a traditional equestrian/agricultural family. His journey into racing was built on curiosity, obsession, and an early fascination with the sport.

One of his earliest racing memories dates back to 2012, watching Farhh win the Thirsk Hunt Cup - a performance that would precede Farhh becoming a dual Group 1 winner. That moment sparked a lasting ambition to understand the sport from the inside.

After leaving school, Adam has learned to ride and enrolled on the 12-week residential course at the National Horseracing College, gaining hands-on practical grounding in stable life and racehorse management.

He has also worked with respected trainers including Eve Johnson Houghton, assisting with race planning and developing a deeper understanding of race placement and programme strategy. Further experience followed with Adrian Keatley, where Adam broadened his knowledge across all aspects of the industry — from daily yard operations to attending bloodstock sales and analysing potential purchases.

In addition, Adam shadowed and gained valuable mentorship from leading bloodstock agents, most notably Oliver St Lawrence, refining his eye for all things bloodstock.

Establishing Adam Burton Bloodstock

In October 2023, Adam set up independently as a bloodstock agent, beginning by sourcing horses for trainer Roger Fell. Each of those initial purchases went on to win the following season - an early statement of intent and proof of his ability to identify undervalued talent.

Alongside sourcing for Roger Fell, Adam has since very steadily expanded his client base. His approach combines pedigree analysis, physical assessment, performance data, and commercial foresight - with a clear emphasis on value. In a short space of time, he has developed a reputation for securing horses significantly below their market ceiling.

Adam also spent time riding out for Roger Fell, maintaining practical involvement at yard level and reinforcing his hands-on understanding of training & racehorse development.

Early Flagship Success: Meade Gold

A standout example of Adam’s eye for value has already came early doors, with the purchase of Meade Gold for 26,000 guineas from David Barron’s stable. The following season, Meade Gold became Champion Newcomer in Kuwait among all imported horses, winning six of his seven starts, including finishing second in a Group 3 contest. He has since added a Listed victory to his record - a remarkable return on investment and a clear demonstration of strategic placement and even international opportunity awareness.

Calcaria Racing

At the end of 2024, Adam founded Calcaria Racing - a group built on a clear philosophy: buy intelligently, buy affordably, and outperform expectation.

In its first year, Calcaria Racing produced 3 winners from just 16 runners - a 19% strike rate - with an average purchase price per horse of under £1,000. The results reinforced Adam’s core principle: success in racing is not solely about budget, but about judgement, placement, and execution.

Philosophy

Adam Burton Bloodstock is built on independence, work ethic, and attention to detail. Without inherited shortcuts, every opportunity has been earned through learning, observation, and calculated decision-making.
